Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Today I am making a Pot Roast and one of the easiest ways to do that is with a crock pot. You probably need a larger crock pot (which i learned the hard way) Mine is a 6 quart crock pot. Here's the recipe I used. Mine is cooking in the crock pot right now.

one beef pot roast or beef chuck roast
2 envelopes Lipton Onion Soup Mix
1 bag of baby carrots
red potatoes or new potatoes
2 cups water

Coat pot roast with Lipton Onion soup mix. Pour water over meat. Cook on low for 4 to 6 hours. After I did this, i removed the bone because I used a beef chuck roast. (If you use a boneless roast, you can cook all ingredients together, but i don't. This is good if you put it together before work, just place the vegetables in the roast and by the time you get home it will be done.)
After you remove the bone, place the cut potatoes and bag of baby carrots into the mix, add more water if necessary. Cook for another 4 hours.
Total Crock Pot time: 8- 10 hours

If you want to thicken your crock pot mix some all purpose flour with cold water and add to the mixture while cooking. I usually don't do this, but if your roast looks runny by the end, add some of this mixture to it. You can also add a can of cream of mushroom soup and put less water, or put onions in the crock pot.

About My Food Journal

My love of cooking is known from all those around me. I love cooking for other people as well as trying out different recipes. My passion is mostly baking and I enjoy sharing my creations with friends and family. Most of my loved ones ask me for the recipe for different things I have made. This blog was inspired to post my (almost) famous recipes for those who want them. I will also post different things I have tried out and tips for healthy eating. I am a senior at Tennessee Tech University majoring in Family & Consumer Sciences Education and minoring in Nutrition and Foods. I chose this major strictly for my love of cooking and teaching others and I can't wait to share my recipes with you all!
